The Southern African Memon Foundation (SAMF) was formed in 1984 when Mr. Rangoonwala of the World Memon Foundation (WMF) visited South Africa.
The idea of the SAMF was inspired by him as an independent body, not affiliated to the WMF.
The initial aim of the SAMF was to assist people who could not obtain finance due to lack of security. Money was advanced, free of interest, to deserving individuals and families. This however, was later abandoned owing to the fact that the Foundation could not assist more applicants due to a lack of funds. Thanks to the Almighty, the Foundation did not lose any money and numerous projects have since been undertaken with great success.
